Alternative Instructional Materials Form

The Newport News Public Schools Curricula provides students with a wide range of opportunities to learn about and understand the world around them. Through engaging instruction, aligned to the Virginia Department of Education’s Standards of Learning and Curriculum Frameworks, students will be exposed to various texts, resources, and materials.

The NNPS School Board Policy, IJA-Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content in compliance with Section 2.2-2827 of the Virginia Code has established procedures for schools to identify all instructional materials with sexually explicit content. Additionally, NNPS has published a List of Instructional Materials that may contain content under Section 2.2-2827 of the Virginia Code.
